Senior Developer (Laravel / PHP)

Hesabe is the payment gateway trusted by thousands of Kuwaiti merchants — every day we process KNET, Visa, and MasterCard transactions that keep real businesses running. As a Senior Laravel / PHP Developer, you'll work on the core backend that handles all of that.

You'll build new payment features, integrate with banks and card schemes, harden our systems for PCI-DSS, optimize transaction throughput, and untangle legacy code into something clean, testable, and fast. You'll work directly with our CTO, a small senior engineering team, and product — no layers, no committees.

This is a role for engineers who take pride in their craft. You write tested code. You think about edge cases. You don't shrug at technical debt — you refactor it. You care that a merchant's payment either succeeds or fails cleanly, never ambiguously.

• 5+ years of PHP experience, with at least 3 years on Laravel

• Strong grasp of Laravel fundamentals — Eloquent, queues, jobs, events, service containers, testing with PHPUnit or Pest

• Deep MySQL / MariaDB experience — indexes, query planning, transactions, replication

• Comfortable with Redis for caching, queues, and distributed locks

• REST API design — versioning, rate limiting, authentication (OAuth, API keys), idempotency

• Experience working with payment gateways, banking APIs, or other high-stakes financial systems is a significant plus

• Security mindset — TLS, encryption at rest, secrets management, OWASP Top 10, PCI-DSS awareness

• Familiar with Linux, Docker, AWS (EC2, RDS, ElastiCache, S3)

• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar) and clean git practices

• Strong English communication — Arabic is a plus for working with local banking partners
